(More customer reviews)Recently my 93 year old mom was in hospital and during an extended stay developed bed sores. They were healed in her rehab stay and was prescribed a hospital type bed and an alternating air mattress to maintain her skin. I had noticed that the mattress in her rehab had a very soft top even though it was air. Well the one at home that Medicare provided only had a thin cover that barely provided any protection from the air tubes. Mom couldn't sleep very well. I did some research and asked her care givers about the difference in surfaces. Seems as she healed they gave her the thicker topped mattress to maintain the skin. The thin surface is more necessary during the initial healing. So I got this topper and it now is a comfortable bed and she can sleep. If her skin breaks down I can remove the topper for more direct therapy. So far that's not needed. I am topping a Drive bed and air mattress so it fits well.
The only reason I gave it 4 stars is it seems to me sagging in the center and it's not rotatable as far as I understand. I have the air mattress set to steady and firm to fully support the topper.
