I have other Jobst products - including compression socks and other stockings that I bought a while back. As somebody who already has had DVTs in the left leg, I use these products not only for prevention for future DVTs, but more importantly, to keep the blood flow moving. I'm not a doctor here - but after a DVT, there's damage to your veins, where your veins are "bigger" than normal. In essence, during moments of stillness, your blood "pools" in certain areas.
These compression products are suppose to compress your legs to keep the blood from pooling.
Unfortunately - this product with silicone band sounds nice in theory, but really doesn't work. The stockings start dropping right to your knee, and below the moment you start moving.
If you're going to be lying on your back watching football for 8 hours...ok...these may be good for you. But if you're planning to wear this if you work at an office or taking a plane/train/car ride -- it's pretty cumbersome. Any sort of movement starts moving the stockings down the thigh.
I have another Jobst product where you can "strap" the stocking around your waist. Albeit a tad uncomfortable at the beginning, I got use to them, and they worked well.
Basically - if you had a DVT above the knee or are looking for compression hoisery that will work for the thigh area -- well this is NOT it. Move on and save some cash.
