`Coccyx Gel Seat Cushion with Fleece Top 18" Wx16" D x 3" H Review

`Coccyx Gel Seat Cushion with Fleece Top 18 Wx16 D x 3 H

My current project work requires long hours of sitting in a task chair. This has not bothered me until recently. I developed soreness in the tailbone area that graduated into real pain after sitting for a period of time. I searched on tailbone relief and found this cushion on Amazon. It worked so well that I had my 88 yr old mother try it. Now we are both owners of the cushion. It fits in a standard work chair, but might be too wide for smaller chaors or car seats. Check dimensions before ordering. If it fits, it will relieve pain. 5 stars.

Roho Mosaic Cushion, 16" X 16" Review

Roho Mosaic Cushion, 16 X 16
Average Reviews:

This cushion is extremely comfortable. It's interconnected air bladders (each about 3" square) spread the pressure from sitting over a wide area, relieving spot pressure on the bony protrusions at the base of the pelvis. It weighs only about 1 lb. and comes with a lightweight cover and a small, easy-to-use hand pump which inflates it quickly. It's typically used for wheelchairs but can be used anywhere. It's also indicated for preventing, or while healing from, stage 1 or 2 pressure sores. After getting stage 1 pressure sores from a week-long work session improperly seated on a hard chair with my thighs elevated by a footstool (transferring all my weight back to the base of the pelvis), I couldn't sit at all until I got this cushion, which gave me immediate relief. The cover has a fabric handle and is easy to carry for use in the car or anywhere; I even took it on a train and carried it around a city in a large tote bag. A month later, with my pressure sores much better, I still use this cushion and maybe always will, at least on hard chairs, because of its comfort.

This is exactly what I needed. I especially love the adjustable lumbar cushion. And the entire backrest fits my office chair perfectly. It's well made from high quality materials. I have recommended it to my co-workers looking for a back support.

I got this for my husband for back support. He is a construction worker on his feet lifting stuff all day. He can wear this under his shirts and pants all day, except on the hottest days of the year. He comes home and does not complain about how his back is sore anymore. He loves it and I love it.

IMAK Back Cushion, 1-Count Review

IMAK Back Cushion, 1-Count
Average Reviews:

This is a nice back cushion, but it is not quite supportive enough - also it is holds in the heat so in the summer can make you a bit sweaty. It is better than trying to use a regular or travel pillow for back support, but the elastic strap really holds nothing and needs to be ditched totally. Not a total waste of money but not quite as good as it appears either. Ditch the elastic band and make it out of memory foam and it would be quite a bit better!

Duro-Med Contoured Back Cushion with Straps, Grey Review

Duro-Med Contoured Back Cushion with Straps, Grey
Average Reviews:

This item was purchased to add back support to my mother's wheel chair. It is well made and a good value, but beware: even with the straps, it tends to slip down and out of the sling-back style wheel chair. It is now used as support in a recliner chair.

Duro-Med Lumbar Back Support Roll, Navy Review

Duro-Med Lumbar Back Support Roll, Navy

This thing is way too soft and doesn't give any actual support for your back. I think it could make a good travel neck pillow though. It's so squishy it can easily fit into a carry on bag. But as lumbar support it's totally worthless.

Duro-Med Lumbar Back Support Half-Roll, Navy Review

Duro-Med Lumbar Back Support Half-Roll, Navy

This lumbar roll is just OK. I feel I could've just went to the craft store and bought the foam and fabric to cover it myself for much less. The foam squishes flat very easily and doesn't offer a ton of support. (Maybe I should've got the full roll- and I guess I expected it to be a 'special' foam). Also, one day with my little brother putting it around everything he has seen, and the elastic was shot. I feel this product is overpriced, but then again, I did buy a half of a roll of foam for $13 so who can I blame?

Duro-Med Contour Lumbar Cushion for Bucket Seats Review

Duro-Med Contour Lumbar Cushion for Bucket Seats
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I suppose this particular support's design was well-intentioned. It does have a different design than the standard Duro-Med lumbar supports with the strap -- Even though Duro-Med's customer service staunchly says that the only difference between the standard and the bucket is one has a strap and the other doesn't. I have tried both! They ARE different in design.
The bucket seat one is contoured in the back in two ways. The standard one has a totally flat back. The bucket seat design's back is angled out on the side where the flares are in the front. This is to accommodate already flared bucket seats. The standard design pillow, because it has a flat back but still flared front, forces the sides of the pillow to wrap around you (because the back is being pushed forward by the flares of your car's bucket seat.). The bucket seat designed one allows for the pillow to essentially fit against the back of the seat because the back is contoured to accommodate the flared sides of the car's seat. The result is that the standard one, because the flat design, forces it to bend forward, for better or worse, resulting in MORE support around the sides of your back. You may or may not like that -- depending on how much side support you want.
The real downside to the bucket seat designed one is that the pillow has a slight curve from top to bottom to accommodate the vertical curve of the bucket seat -- again, unlike the standard one which is flat backed. The standard one also is thicker at the bottom of the cushion. What ends up happening with the bucket design one is that the bottom, having less cushion and being at the bottom of a vertical curve, is more easily pushed back into the crevice where the car seat and back join, resulting in LESS sacral (lower back support) and the top of the cushion ends up kind of leaning into the middle of your back bone.
The Duro-Med cushions, while lightly cushioned, are really firm, so they really push back against you if there is anything there to push. As I mentioned above, with the bottom of the bucket design seat kind of disappearing into the crevice, there isn't much lower back support. The standard cushion, however, because it is thicker and is totally flat-backed (no vertical curve), really pushes back against you and supports big time, perhaps too much for some. It doesn't really sink much back into the crevice, so there is a lot of lower back support. Because it is flat backed and your bucket seat is likely not, the sides of the cushion, with its own flare, will really wrap around you. And because it is thicker all the way to the top than the bucket seat designed one (though still thicker at the bottom, as it should be), will really push against your back so it curves backwards. For those used to slouching or even sitting up relatively straight, this feels like one of those chiropractic devices that forces your back into one of those curves that will thrust out your upper mid-section and chest from the back. With all that lower and side support, it really extends the spine, but it may be too much too.
So, you have two designs from Duro-Med -- one with too little and one with perhaps too much support. I do like the fact that the cushion is pretty firm. I have also tried the Homedics memory foam. It starts nicely supportive, but as it warms up, it softens big time and you'll find that the cushion merely ends up contouring to the seat rather than providing support. Your mileage may vary!

Carex Contour Back Cushion Review

Carex Contour Back Cushion
Average Reviews:

This cushion feels just like it should. However, I've never purchased one before and I didn't understand I would need a style with a strap to hold it in place on the back of my office chair. While I'm working, it slips off the side or sinks down between the back of the seat and the chair back.
I'll keep it to use while watching tv or reading, and I'm sure it will be great for that purpose. I'll buy one with a strap for my office chair.
