*********** Used only once by a patient weighing slightly less than 100 lbs. - 1 of the wheels cracked and dislodged from the frame in the shower, causing the chair to almost tip over ! Needless to say, I was horrified.
Manufactured by Anthros Medical and sold through various medical equipment retailers, this chair is NOT safe nor is it supportive !
Save time, money, and the nightmare of returns. DO read reviews. DO shop around.

(More customer reviews)This is a very good quality shower chair. It is stable and I love that you can adjust the height for each persons comfort. The backrest does provide good support and has a little give if you want to lean back to rinse your hair. I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant and I provide people with shower chairs for a living. This is the best one I have seen! I now have a back injury, so I got this chair for myself and I really like it. I would say the only downside is that it is a large chair and if you don't have a tub shower or a big stall shower, it wouldn't fit very well.

(More customer reviews)Delivery was faster than expected. Assembly of the legs needed oiling, as they did not adjust easily. Assembly of the other parts was simple. No instruction guide needed. I find the chair to be a bit heavy due to my lack of strength. It's sturdy. It did not fit my tub like I wanted, with me seated facing the faucet. I have to turn the chair so I sit over the drain and the faucet is behind me. My tub is narrow (Jacuzzi tub.) Be sure to check the dimensions of your tub and chair to make sure it works.

Carex Round Shower Stool Review

(More customer reviews)I put the chair together and have been using it for a month now after foot surgery. I notice that rust has started around the middle screw holding all the legs together. I thought this was strange since it is a shower chair and will on occasion get wet. It also said it was adjustable. You must have to be REALLY strong to get those pegs to move because they have not budged. The height is good for what I need now, but I thought I could continue using it as a stool later on. Guess that is not to be. Don't get me wrong, I do like it. I mean it is the only round one I have found and is easy to move around on it. Just wish it was more user friendly on the buttons and did not have part of the assembly rusting. I don't think it is the big screw it self that I rusting, but the ring that goes around it maybe.

Invacare Mariner Rehab Shower Commode Chair Review

In fact, with this rolling commode on wheels I never have to actually go into a restroom! What a burden to drop. It's awesome. My daily events continue completely unabated regardless of what I ate for lunch. Bring on lunch at Anita's Mexican Restaurant!
I first saw the Mariner while in the hospital recovering from some self-inflicted throat and stomach trauma. Without going into too much detail, let's just say that I was watching Nathan's Hotdog eating competition where this Japanese guy crammed 189 hotdogs into his mouth. It was so awe inspiring that I felt that I must try it myself... hence the trip to the emergency room.
Anywhoo,
One of the patients down the hall was recovering from falling off her roof... or giving birth to the child that was screaming his head off in her room... I'm not sure which... In any event, she was using this device while in recovery. I thought to myself, "Self, all these years you've been a prisoner to your bodily functions and now, right here, is the key to your freedom. Self, don't be a sucker, get this rolling crap factory and start living!"
Freedom, real freedom, is dropping a deuce while rolling down hill with your arms raised over your head like the champion you are.
After a night of eating Indian and Mexican food I can go to the movie theater the next day without worrying about missing any of the action! It's quite liberating. Imagine pinching a loaf while simultaneously watching Julie and Julia and eating popcorn. Uh... I mean watching Rambo.... Imagine how many more bad guys Rambo would have killed if he had an M-60 mounted to the Mariner Commode Chair. I'm telling you that the strained look on his face is the result of constiptation.
For office managers: how much more productive will your employees be if they don't have to EVER leave their desks! I smell PROFIT...

It is great to sit on while I shave my legs and it conveniently folds up out of the way when I am through. The wooden back means I don't have to lean against the cold tile. It doesn't have that nursing home look that some seats have. It is exactly as I hoped it would be.

This seat was very easy to assemble ( essentially 3 pieces and a few screws) And it importantly is very strong. We have a standard size tube so it fit perfectly. (More customer reviews)I was browsing the internet reading about famed architect Michael Graves (a fellow New Jersey resident) and his designs, and I came upon an article about his recent paralysis and how, as a result of that, he was now designing medical equipment to assist other handicapped people. At the same time, my mother had just come out of rehab and needed a shower chair. I read that Michael Graves had designed a chair, and as he is a talented, award-winning architect/designer, as well as being in a wheelchair, I knew it would most likely be better than any other on the market. I found it for a very reasonable price on Amazon (the best price on the internet or any store that I found). My mother loves her shower chair. It has made her life much easier. Fits easily into her somewhat small tub/shower. Legs and back support are easily adjustable. Easy to clean. Supports substantial weight. Overall, extremely satisfied with my purchase. I hope Mr. Graves continues to design other devices to assist the handicapped.
