Hybrid Rollator Transport Chair Color: Titanium Review

Hybrid Rollator Transport Chair Color: Titanium
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This works great as a walker, the height is easily adjustable and the seat is comfortable for short rests. The wheels are large and even handle relatively rough ground with ease. It folds up easily even with the foot rests attached and the storage bag is more convenient than I thought it would be, I prefer it to a basket under the seat. I prefer this walker to the more expensive 4 wheeled hard seated walker I used after foot surgery.
Switching to a wheelchair for short rides is convenient but it is not as good as a regular wheelchair. If your primary need is a wheelchair I recommend buying one instead of this. This combination rollator gave me the confidence to try longer walks shortly after my total knee replacement knowing I could stop and be pushed when I was too tired or in too much pain and it wasn't long before I took the foot rests off and used it exclusively as a walker.

Tracer Sx5 16x16 With Desk Arm Review

Tracer Sx5 16x16 With Desk Arm
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this chair because Medicare was going to pay a local medical supply house $1600 for a similar, but less quality chair for my grandfather. I bit the proverbial bullet and bought our own instead of hitting the Medicare tab with a high dollar item in fears of creeping towards a high tab on the year. Originally the item shipped was the "wide load" version, which was not stated, so we returned it for the normal size. In a house where there is no handicapped access, this chair was great. The wheelbase even allowed turning it, of course with the foot pads swung aside and folded, in a non handi bathroom. The durability of this chair was great and my grandfather was only bothered by comfort after 4+ hours in it. If it was something I had to do again, I would buy the comfort pad to sit on just because there was no suspension in the seat. I went for this chair over a transport chair because of the stability with the large wheel and I had zero complaints while it was used. The folding was a snap and the weight was great for lifting in and out of a trunk or even over the side of a pickup bed.

I was surprised to find that this manufacturer does not measure the width of the chair the same way that other manufacturere do. This was advertised as a 17-inch-width, and it turns out to be 15-inch across the seat. But this is satisfactory to me.
I just think that people should be aware of the fact that the Drive chair is narrower than one might expect.

I'd expected to pay a lot more for a good, lightweight wheelchair for my elderly mother. I'm almost 70 and 5'3" and a woman, but I am able to lift the wheelchair in and out of the hatchback of my car. It folds and unfolds easily. I suggest you get a foam seat cushion to go with it for comfort of the rider.

Drive Medical FW17GR Fly-Weight Transport Chair, 17 Inch, Green Review

Drive Medical FW17GR Fly-Weight Transport Chair, 17 Inch, Green

This is the product that I've been looking for probably 30 years. I have a handicapped daughter that can walk for short distances only. We've always used a regular wheel chair and it is heavy and she can't propel it herself, so we realy don't need the big wheels that are on a regular wheel chair. Now we will use it for very rough terrain. It is very strong, light and compact compared to her regular wheelchair. I can't say anything negative about it. My daughter is small, so we ordered the 17" size. Amazon has the best price and it arrived as stated with no problems.

Ultra Lightweight Ergonomic Wheelchair S-115-14" Rear Wheels - Pearl Silver, 18" x 17" Review

Ultra Lightweight Ergonomic Wheelchair S-115-14 Rear Wheels - Pearl Silver, 18 x 17
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this Ergonomic Karman S-115 TP ( Transport) as listed at many sites. I have purchased three transport chairs in the past at an average price under $200.00. These economy transport wheelchairs work well and are easy to manuever anywhere with the option of folding up for storage.
The small wheels however have always been a problem riding over sidewalk bumps and on lawns. I purchased this Karman S-115 TP as the photo appears to show a larger foot rest extension and the option of installing frog legs along with larger rear wheels. The chair is very attractive and lightweight as advertised. My wife who uses the chair is 5'4" and has never had any trouble sitting comfortably in the previous transport wheelchairs or any issues. Although the S-shaped seating and ergonomic design sounds like a lot of improvement in the product, it has turned into a nightmare trying to modify it to make it work as the other economy models. I compared the two chairs side by side with all measurements and they are very close in seat height, width and length. However the Karman wheelchair armrests extend only halfway from the back of the seat. This makes backing into the chair or standing up difficult as the armrests are used to raise and lower into the seat. Also, my wife's knees are arched upward , even with the legrest fully adjusted downwards. When the legrests are fully adjusted to maximum length they scrape on ramps, thresholds and small sidewalk bumps. This can only be used for a child. A woman 5'4" cannot use it with the existing legrest design. WARNING!!! NO RETURNS ARE ACCEPTED by ALL the vendors for these Karman Wheelchairs.
I paid $819.00 FOR THIS WHEELCHAIR with the froglegs installed. Because the legrests were too small, I purchased the elevating legrests which extend outward to solve the footrests from dragging. This was an additional price of $200.00. Once again, with the elevating legrests extended as to not drag on the sidewalk, the length was still too short to the foot pedals. My wife's knees were still bent upwards and not touching the calf supports attached. In addition, her feet constantly slide off the pedals which are now at a 45 degree angle upward. With the elevating legrest in use the weight is distributed differently and the wheelchair tilts forward easily . The wheel base from front wheels to rear wheels is too short and becomes extremely unbalanced. The once easy to manuever transport chair is now twice the length and nearly impossible to navigate in many areas including restroom stalls. Since the vendors and Karman Healthcare refuse to accept the wheelchair back for any reason, I am now using the previous economy transport chair and able to navigate restroom stalls again without leaving it at the door and struggling to get as close as possible. This chair is now for sale for anyone who needs a lightweight wheelchair for a child. PLEASE REVIEW this information carefully before making the same mistake I did.

Lumex Hybrid Rollator Transport Chair Review

Lumex Hybrid Rollator Transport Chair
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice sturdy walker without a lot of weight. I purchased this for my handicapped son that can walk limited distances and then needs to sit. The seat is quite wide as is the whole walker. A little narrower would be nice. It is 2" wider than our other walker with a seat. This model does go up to 300 pounds which is why it is wider but a junior size would be great.I have had trouble in the stores maneuvering through isles. The handles adjust to almost any height easily. I bought it for the footrests that fold out of the way while walking with it. My complaint is the footrests need to be picked up to swing back out of the way for storage. For a person to pick them up slightly and move them forward you need to bend over or sit down and try to maneuver them into place and I need my glasses to hit the slots properly. The wheelchair footrests just swings forward on the pins without lifting them. A minor problem but it is something to consider for independence of the user.
The only other modification is I need to add a safety belt to keep him on the seat better.
Overall I like this walker a lot and seems to be high quality and is what I need for my son. I am recommending it to my friends.

i was unable to contact the seller after trying for 3 weeks. nothing but an answering machine. finally contacted the mfg but they were unable to supply any other wheels. the smaller wheels on the front of this chair are solid rubber & they smell much worse than new rubber does! about 3 times worse! i don't know why, but the odor is very strong & has not faded. i've had the chair for a couple of months & it's still on my backporch because i can't tolerate the stink in my home. the chair is nice but those front wheels have to go!

Product arrived OK but the shipping carton was all torn and beaten up.
The cardboard used by the Chinese manufacturer was far too flimsy for
the weight of this wheelchair. The brakes needed some adjustment which
I was able to do and now the product works fine. My suggestion would be
to notify the manufacturer to use better packaging with heavy cardboard.
Also, to employ stricter quality control procedures in their shipping
department.

Thank you for a fully assembled wheel chair. The thought of having to assemble one on my own was overwhelming. It was so nice to be able to take the chair out of the box and be on my way. The wheelchair is light weight, easy to transport and very comfortable to be in - even for long period of times.

Drive Medical Duet Transport Chair/Rollator Review

Drive Medical Duet Transport Chair/Rollator
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought the Duet for my mother to replace a rollator (rolling walker/wheeled walker). She would walk a short distance and then turn around in sit in it and expect my dad to push her. It was pretty hard on dad. I suggested that we get her a wheelchair, to which she responded, absolutely NOT. A wheelchair would make her look old and frail (never mind she is 92 and frail) ;->
So here are the great reasons to buy this unit.
Wheels are larger than most rollators (wheeled walkers), this is important as it makes it easier to go over bumps on the floor (metal carpet joints, elevator entrances etc.) while sitting in the unit.

The seat height is adjustable, this is working out for her because she tends to sit in it and pull herself along with her feet (walking without standing)- sort of the antithesis of a walker.
There is a fold away foot rest. Lift it up and she can walk for herself, fold it down and she can put her feet up and just ride along.
There are handholds going in both directions, a place to hold on to while she is being pushed or motivating herself around.
The seat lifts up and has storage underneath.
Light weight and easy to handle, my father (90) can fold it up and put it in the trunk of the car (yes I know that's scary).
The back rest is reversible. It can be easily changed from a rolling walker to a transport chair simply by removing the back and putting back on the other side, no tools needed.
Now for the problem. One of the fork fasteners has stripped out. The unit comes with a limited lifetime warranty so I'll follow up with an update on what it takes to get service.
I gave the unit 5 star rating because of the utilitarian design and the initial experience.
****** 9/10/2010Now for the update on the repair.
The problem initially was a squeaky wheel that was hard to move. When I took a look at it the whole front wheel assembly fell out of the rollator/transport chair (this isn't really a problem because there is almost downward pressure on the wheel holding it on to the chair). The bolt that held the assembly to the chair had stripped out about top half inch. It really is easy to get at and I could fix it temporarily by removing a lock washer on the top and reattaching the fork assembly with the bolt (there is a jam nut to lock it in place). The repair only took 10 minutes.
I called the place where mom got the chair, they gave me the name of a repair service that they use and told me to call. I called and had them order the part, it was to take a week or 2 to get the part in and I'd have a friend install it for mom (I live out of town). I let mom know what was happening and left for home.
2 days later mom forgot what I had told her and called (sort of fortunately) the same repair place, they came out picked up the chair to fix it. Now there wasn't communication between the repair and parts depts. so they ordered a second part. Why would a medical device repair business pick up a working unit, stranding a 92 year woman without her chair without knowing if they had a part for it? And then keep the chair for a week or more waiting for a part? After they got the unit and the part they determined that the other front fork fastener was also bad, so they held the chair up for another week+.
Now for the warranty, apparently the manufacturer, Drive Medical, warrants the device to the dealer - BUT NOT THE END USER!! Strange concept. I contacted Drive Medical a couple of times over this and they sent me back to the dealer that sold the device to my mother. The dealer was at a loss on how to handle the problem - because I had dissembled the chair and was describing the problem in detail to a nice lady that wasn't very mechanically inclined, they sent me directly to the repair firm.
When the repair was finished there was a bill for parts and service. I spoke to the repair shop and their position was that the repair would have been free if she had purchased the chair from them, but because she bought it from someone else there was a charge for services. I now entered into a email campaign CC and/or BCCing the manufacturer, the sales dealer and the repair shop. I pointed out the limited warranty was posted on the manufactures web site and failed to mention having to return the device to the selling firm. After enough bitching and moaning, the selling firm and the servicer got together and took care of the bill, so mom didn't have to pay anything for the repair (there really shouldn't have been a charge for this failure, it was a manufacturing flaw and was a warranted item).
The chair is still in service. And well worth the price on Amazon sells it for. My mother paid $100 in insurance deductible to purchase her Duet chair (I'd love to know how much more the dealer billed the insurance company for).
***** Because of my experience with the warranty I would recommend that before you buy from Amazon that you clarify with either Drive Medical or Amazon who will, and how will warranty service be provided if needed. *****

ITA-MED 16-inch Adult Wheelchair with Fixed Armrests and Elevating Legrests Review

ITA-MED 16-inch Adult Wheelchair with Fixed Armrests and Elevating Legrests
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This Wheelchair is advertised as an adult model, but at an only 16 inch wide seat, it is much more appropriate for a child. I did purchase one of these because at the time that I did, it was being advertised as an 18 inch wheelchair, because someone in the listing department had mis-listed it. When I recieved it, I had to send it back, because you guessed it, they had screwed up the listing. Amazon did take care of the situation, and opologized for the mis-listing that led me to believe I was ordering an 18 inch. Long story short all turned out fine and I ordered a larger size wheelchair of this very model and I find this to be an excellently manufactured piece of medical equiptment. I would recommend this to anyone, who needs a wheelchair of 16 inches for their child. Measure your seating size that you are side to side and add a couple inches for comfort, then order the appropriate wheelchair for you, so you can get the right size for your medical needs. You can look at my other reviews to see what I did buy, if you wish to. There you will find pictures of this very model, just in a larger size, my personal pictures were added, because the picture they have listed of the one I purchased is of an older model. Thank you.

Drive Medical Fly-Weight Transport Chair, 17 Inch Review

Drive Medical Fly-Weight Transport Chair, 17 Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This chair is very well built yet also is very light. I can easily lift it into the trunk of my car. The standard wheelchair that my mom used to use was always very difficult for me to lift.
The chair is also compact when open which makes for much easier maneuvering in public areas. The pocket on the back of the seat is convenient for putting my mom's parking pass in. It also velcros closed so I don't have to worry about anything falling out.
When folded, the chair is compact. You have the option of folding the feet into the sides and folding the handles down which makes it even tinier. Easy to store in my mother's little closet.
The brakes are a little inconvenient to use as you have to bend all the way down. Also, one of the brakes wasn't tightened as much as it could be. The tools they included with the chair don't fit the brakes' bolts so I have to use an allen wrench from my own toolset.
Overall, though, an excellent chair at an excellent price.

This chair is wonderful, and the price is especially good for the features included. The major flaw, and the reason I am giving it only 3 stars, is because the plastic end caps fall out easily and are lost before you know they are gone.
