Adjuster Cushion with Vicair Technology Size: 22" x 18", Cover Type: Comfort-Tek Cover Review

(More customer reviews)VicAir wheelchair cushions, distributed by the Comfort Company, claims itself to be a "revolutionary solution" to the physical therapist standard Roho cushion, because of "low maintenance compared to the Roho." Two months after sitting on the VicAir, I developed a stage 4 sacrum
wound (decubedes ulceration). A physiologist from a major NJ hospital inspected the VicAir and concluded it was the cause. The VicAir uses triangular shaped "air balls" stuffed into compartments. Unlike the Roho, with air stems that conform to the body, VicAir's triangles can actually put, not take away, pressure on areas of the buttocks. VicAir hoots it's "triangle balls" are hermetically sealed and can't leak. Maybe, but is a two month hospital stay and skin flap surgery worth this so-called advantage?
You adjust the VicAir, not by lessening or increasing air pressure, but by removing or moving the balls. Terrific. Roho is the standard of wheelchair cushions among the rehabilitation experts for a reason. It prevents skin breakdowns and wounds. The VicAir causes them.
