(More customer reviews)I did a lot of research into many different seat cushions and decided on this one. It was a little more expensive than the others, but well-worth it. My husband is a big guy (6'8", 300 lbs.) and drives truck, so he needed something to ease the pain in his tailbone that would last. This product does just that. Naturally, I had to purchase the largest one, but they have many sizes and thicknesses to choose from to suit your particular body size. Also, this cushion is not on a slope like many of them are, which I've heard may make the problem worse. This works perfectly-even for bigger people and that's hard to find!

Carex Coccyx Cushion Review

(More customer reviews)I am a woman with arthritis and MS and am dealing with a crazy amount of pain and tightness in the sacroiliac (SI) joint. I traveled on an airplane recently and tried to simulate what this type of pillow would do with a jacket (no luck). I knew I needed to research and buy a coccyx pillow asap.
I decided on this one over a ring shape because I thought that the shape and memory foam would be more useful in the car, on planes, sitting in meetings or just sitting at the kitchen table. It's been nice and provides a great amount of relief. I've been concerned about the potential for pressure sores for me (I do not use a wheelchair but sit a lot and have very little natural cushion on my tush). This is a nice cushion. Firm enough to seem like it will hold up for some time and with a durable cover and handle.
5 stars.
UPDATE Jan 25 - I love this thing and am going to buy two more (1 for each car). I feel like Linus with his blanket ... I tote the this cushion all over the place :) Simple, logical relief.

(More customer reviews)The basic design is very good if only it worked properly. Unfortunately the air valves are very poorly designed. One of them leaked and couldn't be fixed so I had to send it back. It cost too much for shipping to risk going through it again. But the valves don't protrude from the inflatable. You have to press your mouth against the inflatable part to blow it up and then there is nothing to pinch to keep the air from coming back out while you try to press in a little plastic tab to stop the air. There are two valves, one for each side, and one didn't work at all.

A previous reviewer termed the cushion too "squishy", and while I'll partly concur with the reviewer, the cushion fits my situation perfectly. OK, maybe it could be a little less soft, but not much. The company (CWI Medical) is very good and reliable. Cutout was large enough to relieve my coccyx pain, and you can order 4" thick, which is very good.

(More customer reviews)I have tried several lumbar back cushions and seat cushion. This is my overwhelming favorite - the gel is firm and comfortable to sit on. I have found the regular foam pillows to be insufficiently supportive and too bulky. This cushion supports the natural curve of my spine, eliminating back and psoas muscle strain. The only challenge is that in a car, you'll need to adjust your car seat for the added height of the cushion. I own 4 of these for the cars, as well as kitchen and office chairs.

(More customer reviews)I recently searched for a very firm seat cushion to relieve the stress on my back muscles and tailbone when I sit for long periods of time flying across the country on those ancient 30 yr old airline seats. I purchased this cushion and 2 other competitors to try at home prior to taking this cushion on my last last trip. The cushion was fantastic. I will never fly again without it - in fact, I am using it at home on a few chairs to provide firmer support. This cushion fits perfectly within the airline seat area, provides great firm support, does not compress or fatigue while in use (I am a big guy), and its handle is very convenient when de-boarding; I am very pleased with the solid blue color. I plan to buy a second cushion soon. I am very hard to please and this cushion is Best in Class! Kudos to the designer and company.

I have bought cushions from the most expensive to the absolute cheepest and everywhere in between. NOTHING WORKS LIKE THIS ONE. I am a bigger girl and most pillows simply flatten undernieth me. This one supports me and after a few weeks has not flattened out. It starts off a little firm, but once it contours to your body with the memory-foam, sitting becomes a joy rather than a nightmare. I have only had it for a week or two so I can't comment on the longevity of the product, but after searching so long for the right pillow (and wasting a lot of money), this product worked out the best.

Everything I tried before this, would go flat and *stay flat* This, at least refills itself with air after the night or a long time passes where I am not sitting on it, but.......it still goes flat and has very little thickness to it after I have sat for awhile, but is still better than the chair itself with little or no cushion and does help some, so I will use it until I can find something better....

(More customer reviews)When a family member developed a pressure sore from too much sitting, a friend told me that a sheepskin might help. I couldn't find a wheelchair cushion cover made from sheepskin, so I purchased this polyester-backed lambswool cushion cover instead. Like sheepskin, it wicks perspiration away from the body, and it provides a little bit of extra cushioning. The lambswool cover helped to take pressure off so that the sore could be treated successfully (in a person who is fairly mobile and no longer wheelchair-bound).
This cover is luxurious and good-looking, and the family member loves it! It fits a large (3" x 16" x 18") pincore latex foam wheelchair cushion. The one drawback is that the two small Velcro closing tabs do not hold the cover securely in place over a large cushion. I solved this problem by adding safety pins.
The only real sheepskin covers that I could find are designed to fit over both the back and seat of the wheelchair (for example, Wheelchair Seat Cover Sheepskin Pad Natural - Wooly Bully #WCC). This lambswool cushion cover was a better solution for my household, because the family member did not like the idea of the full wheelchair cover.

(More customer reviews)I bought this product based on its good reviews and that it appeared to be made of gel rather than foam--afterall, it is called "Gel seat cushion." I figured it would be the same gel material foudn in the jelly wrist rests for the keyboard and mouse and wouldn't compact the way foam does. I took the cover off--it is ALL FOAM in there. Thsi is a problem for me because the foam just compacts and then I end up with pressure on my tailbone. Maybe I'm just too skinny and my weight doesn't disperse right across the foam cushion so I just sink down. I still have tailbone pain using this FOAM cushion.

(More customer reviews)I have fibromyalgia ( constant pain ), and sitting in a car, foldup chair, church pew, etc. is torture. When I ordered this cushion I was doubtful. But this cushion is amazing! I took it to a day long seminar & was able to stay the whole day. I still had some pain & had to change my position frequently, but I made it ! I find the design attractive, It's light weight, very trim, and has a built in handle in the middle. Sadly, my husband found out that it was perfect to use when he drove long distance, and I haven't gotten it back yet.I guess I'll have to buy another.Be warned though,it comes in two widths.The smaller is 16 inches. The larger fills a bucket seat very well.

(More customer reviews)purchased this for a pc chair project of mine, it did take some fine tuning as far as how much water to add, and i did end up buying more gel for it before i got it just perfect, stock as it comes there isnt enough gel inside to get the right consistency and be high enough that it doesnt bottom out against itself, i added 35g Sodium Polyacrylate Diaper Polymer/magic snow cost 4.50 dont pay 18$ for refill kit here, once i got the correct consistency and fullness that it doesnt bottom against itself it is SUPER nice, the manufacturer should provide a plastic water measuring bag or specify a specific amount but they dont, i added 35g of polyacrylate to what was inside and filled to on a flat surface a measured 1 3/4 thick and its perfection,gel is thick enough to be weight bearing without bottoming but just fluid enough to move through the baffles inside if you rock from side to side.. the actual bag is quite heavy duty heavy mil plastic comes with fill spout and corner tie downs, great product and idea but the fill instructions and gel quantity lack so cost it a star but overall im happy with my purchase and recommend this 100% to anyone has to sit all day
